Lago do Cuniã (Cuniã Lake) is a riverine community located in Rondonia, along Madeira River. In November 1999, through the Federal Decree No. 3,238, it became an Extractive Reserve (RESEX). In 2018, RESEX’s area has been expanded by the Federal Decree No. 9,638. Currently, it covers an area of approximately 78,876 hectares that is managed by ICMBIO (Chico Mendes Institute for Conservation of Biodiversity), in Porto Velho, the capital city of Rondonia. 

At this conservation unity,  there are about 400 people and 83 families inhabiting the land distributed in five micro-communities: Neves, Silva Lopes Araújo, Pupunhas, Araçá and Bela Palmeira.
